Random

Allie continues to have trouble sleeping, especially at night. We are all very ready for her teeth to come in so she (and we) can get some relief!

We just wanted to share a few pictures. This morning, Allie was laying on the couch while I did a quick chore in the kitchen. It didn't take her long to find the remote. By the time I regained control of the remote, she had turned on the closed captioning, changed the channel and set the sleep mode on the TV. Tony may be losing control of the remote pretty soon!

Allie is quite the eater. She is eating three solid meals a day and sometimes I wonder where she's putting all that she's eating!

Allie loves to play with her Daddy when he gets home from work at night. It's cute to see them together. Sometimes it looks like she's "attacking" him!

Fun with a Friend

We seem to have made a little breakthrough with the teething issues. Still no teeth, but Allie took THREE naps yesterday and is taking her second one today. She woke up five times last night, but went back to sleep fairly quickly each time.

Another thing to brag about--Allie has not eaten her oatmeal well in the mornings ever; but this morning we tried something new. Instead of nursing her right after she woke up and then feeding her the oatmeal and fruit mid-morning, we fed her first thing. She ate one tablespoon of the oatmeal (that's all I had mixed up given past attempts), a whole jar of applesauce and 1/3 of a container of pear-pineapple! Wow!! To date, Allie has eaten rice cereal, oatmeal, pear-pineapple, applesauce and sweet potatoes. She hasn't rejected any of it, but her clear favorites are the applesauce and the sweet potatoes.

Here are a few pictures of Allie playing with her little friend Wyatt. This was last Wednesday (2/6) when she crawled for the first time--clearly showing out for her little "boyfriend." They had fun showing off for and looking at each other. They even held hands! (Tony wasn't too thrilled about that when he heard and plans to have a serious discussion with Mister Wyatt!)

Teething Troubles

For the past month Allie has been teething consistently. She has clearly been in pain. Also, she has not been sleeping well. She hasn't slept through the night since her last doctor's appointment. The past few days, she has not taken a nap and, for the past week or two, she has been waking up several times during the night. She finally took two naps today! We hope this means it will be the end of this rough spot during the days. We sure are ready for those little pearly whites to pop on through! In the meantime, Allie's enjoying her refrigerated teething rings, frozen washclothes and frozen fruit and is tolerating the Orajel and Tylenol and teething tablets.

She is eating really well every night--3 tablespoons of cereal and half a jar of fruit. She is eating a little better in the morning, too. We think she just doesn't like eating in the morning. We will start feeding her at lunchtime next week.

She is getting better and better at sitting up on her own. She still balances herself with her hands, but she can sit up straight on her own when she chooses to do so. She isn't crawling a lot, but part of that has to do with the fact that we have hardwood floors in the living room, so she just slips and slides in there. She also got her first haircut Saturday--just a little trim of the "rat tail" in the back!

Here are a couple pictures of Allie opening her package from her Nonna and Papa:

She's Crawling!!

At five months and four days old, Allie crawled for the first time!!

This afternoon, Joy and Allie went to spend time with some friends, Courtney and her seven-month-old, Wyatt. Well, Miss Allie spent the entire time showing off for Mr. Wyatt. (Uh-oh, she's already starting!) Her showing off consisted of pushing herself up with her arms and alternating with a simple push-up with her legs still flat, a push-up on her toes and up on hands and knees. Now, all these things she's done before--perhaps not for such extended periods of time, but she's done them. At one point while she was on her hands and knees, she moved one knee forward with her hand. I didn't get too excited because she's almost done that before. Then, she went forward with one hand/knee and then the other!

Of course, I didn't have my camera or video camera; and once Courtney got hers out, Allie decided not to show off anymore. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that little miss started crawling to show off for a boy! Stinker!

She and Wyatt got along well. They had a few stare-downs. They smiled and talked "baby talk." Allie didn't object when Wyatt took her toys. They both showed off for each other. And, they held hands. (It's cute right now when they can barely crawl, in a few years that will be a different story!)

Well, we just wanted to share Allie's milestone with you. Sorry there are no pictures to accompany it, but here is a little fun picture I worked up earlier today:

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler

Allie had fun examining her Mardi Gras beads from her Nonna and Papa--too bad she couldn't have any of the king cake!!

Five Months Already!!

Yesterday (February 1), Allie wore red in honor of National Wear Red Day sponsored by the American Heart Association.

Hard to believe, but it's true--Allie's five months old already! She continues to grow and change every day. Right now, she is teething and is clearly quite uncomfortable. She has been very fussy, especially at eating and sleeping times. As a result, her schedule has gotten quite jumbled. We can see two little white nubs of teeth on her bottom gums. It won't be long before they pop through! In the meantime, she enjoys sucking on her "popsicle"--a special holder with a frozen orange slice in it.

She continues to eat her rice cereal in the evenings and her oatmeal (although reluctantly) in the mornings. Next week, we will begin to mix in fruit. She continues to show great interest in Daddy and Mama's foods and can't understand why she has to eat something different! She has "eaten" a couple slices of orange--really, she's just sucked the juice out. She really enjoyed that! Now she is showing interest in Mama's cup whenever she's drinking something. We will probably try out the sippy cup pretty soon.

In addition to being on the verge of flashing her pearly whites, Allie is also very close to crawling and sitting up on her own. She is very good at sitting up semi-supported. She has been able to scoot around for a while now, but she is finally starting to get her knees up occasionally. She does better at "crawling" backward right now--it will come soon!

Tonight, Allie enjoyed "attacking" Daddy while Mama mixed up her cereal.
